Here some basic guidelines for posting to this list. We are a
supportive
group of Beings, and this list is founded on mutual respect and
consideration.
1. ETIQUETTE IN REPYING TO POSTS
The same etiquette guidelines which are encouraged in USENET and on most
mailing lists are operative here. Most discussion groups generate a
lot of traffic; these guidelines are critical for those who are short of
time, must pay to download mail, and frankly everyone else as well. When
was the last time you heard: "There just isn't enough quoted
material!"
or "I want more one-liners!" So...
a) Quote only the minimum needed for context when replying to a post. If
either the header or signature of the previous poster shows up in your
reply,
you have definitely over-quoted. If you don't know how to edit posts, or
are
on the digest and editing is difficult, an option is to type in a
couple-line summary of the post you're responding to.
b) If you find a post particularly interesting, please try to resist the
impulse to quote it in its entirety just because you enjoyed it.
Remember that
everyone has read it already.
c) Words of encouragement and support are wonderful; one-liners that say
simply "I agree" are best sent by private mail to the poster
and not to
the list.
d) Please do not post attachments, binary files such as gifs/jpgs and
the
like to the list. If applicable, you need to turn off the Rich Text
Format(RTF)
and/or HTML format prior to posting. If you don't, your post never makes
it to
the list.
e) Please refer to the top of each posting for the address of the
author. For personal replies, simply cut and paste the name of the
individual into your "mail to" box in your e-mail program, or,
sometimes,
just click on it to begin a private message.
f) Please exercise some restraint with your sig. The really huge ones
can
consume a lot of bandwidth. If this describes yours, please turn it off.
g) If your style of writing is sarcastic and offensive, be aware that
you will be asked to leave the list if the current members find it
disrupting. If you persist in using put-downs and other styles of
flaming, you will be removed from the list and your address blocked from
future subscriptions. This list is founded on loving and caring
energies,
and the listowner reserves the right to protect those energies and
preserve the safe "family like" atmosphere that has developed
here.
2. READ SUBSEQUENT POSTS BEFORE RESPONDING
Often, a poster's question has been answered already by the time you
read the post. Before replying, check to see if that's the case. A good rule
of thumb is to read mail and get a sense of what has been posted already
before responding. Yours may be a duplicate or moot by the time you
post.
3. SUBJECT HEADERS
Often a long thread begins to veer off from the original subject, which
no longer describes accurately the content of the post. Please use
descriptive subject lines when originating posts, and change them when
needed.
4. HEALING REQUESTS
There are a great many healers on this list and we offer distance
healing
at no charge. When requesting distance healing, the following guidelines
apply:
a) You should clearly state for whom you are requesting healings. Some
healers
also find it useful to know where the recipient is located.
b) You should give as many details about the condition as possible. This
will help us to determine what to write in our healing books, and what
to
recommend with regard to crystals and gemstones and applying their
healing properties.
5. FOR SALE POSTS AND ADVERTISING SUBMITTED FROM INDIVIDUALS OR SMALL
BUSINESSES ARE ALLOWED ON THE CRYSTALS LIST. THE FOLLOWING APPLIES:
a) Sales ads that do not have relevance to the topic will not be
tolerated and are grounds for permanent expulsion from the list.
b) MultiLevel Marketing (MLM) and/or "get rich quick" schemes
type of
posts are not permitted. These will get you "tossed off", too.
c) If you, as an individual or small business, have crystal related
items to sell, feel free to post them.
d) If you have rocks to swap or are looking for something in particular,
feel free to post.
e) Last, but not least, if you MISREPRESENT YOURSELF, when it comes to
for sale posts, you won't last long here.
6. NO CROSS-POSTING
Since the Crystals list does not accept posts from non-subscribers,
cross-posting can create invalid posts. Please refrain from
including crystals@troutlists.net in a list of recipients.
7. "BOUNCED" MESSAGES
Whenever there is a problem with your email address, the messages from
the list are 'bounced' to the list-owner. In times of high email volumes,
this
can create quite a challenge. Unfortunately, there is nothing to do,
sometimes, except unsubscribe a list member who has gone on vacation and
has
had their mailbox fill up, or has changed their email address and
forgotten to
unsubscribe the old one. If this happens to you, please know that you
are
welcome here, and feel free to re-subscribe when the problem is
resolved.
